Ah what better to top off the 3DFX class than to have some mech on mech action! My school was in dire need of some heavy metal action in any case, and I had the sweet ass mech model I did in zbrush just waiting for some animation. Despite also working on the huge studio project at the same time, I whipped this assignment out in a few days and I think it came out quite well!
You may notice that some of the effects (namely the exhaust smoke) cuts out; I didn't have time to get all of the effects rendered out in time for submission, but I'm adding in stuff I didn't get to so I'll update at some point).
I modeled the mechs in Max, then put them in Zbrush and added the scuffs and dents, and textured it using poly painting. The building textures I photographed myself and edited in Photoshop, along with other textures from various resources. The dialogue I recorded and edited using Cooledit pro (now Adobe Audition). And finally, I put everything together using After Effects. Well, and then converted it to an SWF in Flash so I could put it on DA.
